Nations are supposed to be the sovereign entities that define today's world and international order.

But on closer examination, it is obvious that nation is nothing but an artificial construct and an obsolete invention of human society that is highly dangerous and divisive and creates much more problems than it solves.

As they are constituted, nations are supposed to be mutually exclusive and independent, and are basically suspicious, hostile and unsympathetic towards one another. They are proud to the point of belligerence, and to the extent that nations are supposed to only look after their own national interest and ignore the interest of others.

Indeed, the idea that sovereignty is sacred and inviolable is the biggest lie perpetrated first by the kings and queens and the emperors of old, and then by the newly born nations of the modern world.

The time has come for a complete rethink of the concept of nations and united nations.
