The Padlocked Fridge is a book about healing. It is not a book about the abuses that made the healing necessary, but a book about the process of relearning and discovering facets of a person which, until recently, were buried. It is a book about excavating those facets, polishing them, identifying them, and learning something from them.

It is a book about resilience.

If trauma is an injury to the mind, to the soul, then this book is a book about regeneration, about the tireless work that the body and the mind put into putting you back together. Each line in these poems can be considered a swirling army of white blood cells, sent forth to patch up a wound, to make anew.

Our hope in publishing this book is that it will help someone. Abuse is such an isolating thing to go through, and hopefully this book will show you that you're not alone.
