The Shekinah glory represents a divine invitation to relationship. God's desire has always been to be with His people, to walk with them, and to reveal Himself to them. The overwhelming splendor of His glory is not just an overwhelming display of power, but a manifestation of His love and His longing to be near. In the garden of Eden, He walked with Adam and Eve, and that was His heart's desire for all of creation. However, sin created a barrier that made such intimacy impossible. The rest of Scripture is, in many ways, the unfolding of God's plan to restore that intimacy. From the sacrificial system that allowed for atonement, to the sending of His Son to die for our sins, God's ultimate desire is to reconcile us to Himself, to bring us back into fellowship, and to reveal His glory once again.
