The peaceful co-existence of the Ulajes and Gawgaws is violently interrupted by an internecine war that polarises the erstwhile neighbours along ethnic divides. Against this backdrop, ethnic militias and leaders sprout up, loyalties are tested, corruption and poverty bloom, and oil-producing companies exploit the people.

Innocence Interrupted investigates the role of the traditional institution, oil- producing companies, ethnic militias, political, traditional and militia leaders, etc., in the perpetuation of violence in Ulogbo, even as the community desperately searches for peace. Can peace be negotiated between the warring Ulajes and Gawgaws, and will Ulogbo land be peaceful enough to focus on its growth and development?
