In the history of the cosmos, twelve hundred saviors have come to as many worlds over thirteen million years. Now, eighteen-year-old Kendra Cayley is chosen to be the next in line of messiah succession-chosen in the sense of being forcibly abducted by aliens from a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy to serve as a messiah for fourteen million previously abducted humans.

There on Planet G, Kendra battles hostile human-alien hybrids, fractious human guilds, a terrorist clique, and her own fears of physical pain and destruction, understanding all the while that these are part and parcel of the messiah paradigm, particularly the elements required to be a messiah.
