Opened in 1876 and closed to passengers in 1959, the Wye Valley Railway ran from Tutshill Halt (just north of Chepstow) to Monmouth Troy. The scenic beauty of the lower Wye Valley, evident in many of the archive photographs collected for this volume, was well utilised by the Great Western Railway to promote tourism.

Agorwyd Rheilffordd Dyffryn Gwy yn 1876, ond fe'i caewyd i deithwyr yn 1959. Rhedai o Tutshill Halt (i'r gogledd o Gas-gwent) hyd Monmouth Troy. Mae harddwch golygfeydd Dyffryn Gwy yn amlwg yn y lluniau o'r archif a gasglwyd ar gyfer y gyfrol hon, ac a ddefnyddiwyd i'r eithaf wrth hyrwyddo twristiaeth gan Reilffordd y Great Western.
