When Gweneth discovers her solemn and pajama-clad eight-year-old son, Aaron, has snuck out onto the snowy roof of their home on Christmas Eve, there is only one place she can think to call: the fire department.

Chief Elijah Ford, Lieutenant Billy Nicks, and the team at Station No. 186 have just returned from putting out a fire. However, they hardly have a chance of changing out of their turnout gear before the emergency alarm sounds again: Rescue Ladder 8, respond. Residential rooftop rescue. Subject is a minor.

Ride along with the squad from Station 186 as they race through peaceful, wintry streets on their way to the scene. Upon their arrival, neither the firefighters, nor Gweneth and Aaron, can imagine the lessons on family, togetherness, and reaching for the stars they will learn in the hours and minutes leading up to Christmas Day.
