Queen Athaliah ruled ancient Judaea in the 9th century BC. She was the daughter of the Israelite king Ahab and his non-Jewish wife Jezebel. The main content of the spiritual life of this ancient period of time was the struggle for the establishment of faith in the one God. This fact is reflected on the pages of the story, the heroes of which ruthlessly fight for the ideas that seem to them the only true. Time and people turn Atalya, endowed with extraordinary abilities, from a kind, sensitive and dreamy girl into a cruel and vengeful woman. Athaliah's heart is filled with fear, hatred and desire for authority. The acts she commits are not inferior to those of Lady Macbeth. The plot of the story is based on a Biblical legend.
