The majestic jagged peaks of the Grand Teton Mountains, adorned with stunning lakes, cascading waterfalls, and meandering rivers, create a breathtaking landscape in the vast expanse of Western Wyoming. These mountains, renowned worldwide, are considered to be among the most awe-inspiring in existence. Carved by ancient glaciers, the Teton range stretches for nearly 40 miles, encompassing a plethora of alpine lakes, extensive hiking trails, historic structures built by the park's early settlers, and a remarkable array of wildlife. The park encompasses the prominent peaks of the 40-mile-long Teton range, as well as the majority of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. The three main peaks, namely Grand, Owen, and Teewinot, were christened in the 1800s by French trappers from the Hudson Bay Company. On Wednesday, July 21st, 2010, the group of climbers aiming to reach the summit of The Grand Teton would face a terrifying situation.
