Katie is happier than she has ever been. Her recent marriage to Dr. Piers Bannister is a dream come true as they settle in a quaint English village and cruise the canals in his narrowboat Tranquil Days. There's just one problem.

Complicated by bad weather and a flu epidemic, Piers' long commute is keeping them apart, causing frayed nerves and mounting mistrust. A super committed doctor, Piers loses sight of what is important and attempts to solve the problem by keeping a secret.

When one of the B&B quests, a snobbish society lady befriends Katie, she gets involved in a nasty child custody battle. Katie is shocked to discover her ex-husband, solicitor, is legal counsel. She knows about his checkered past and is painfully aware that he still loves her. She doubts his professional ability and questions his motives.
