On a routine aerial surveillance mission on October 21st, 1996, a Death Valley Ranger stumbled upon a green 1996 Plymouth Voyager van in Anvil Canyon, a location where no legal road existed. The presence of the van, covered in dust and seemingly abandoned, raised many questions about how it ended up in such a remote and inaccessible area.
Heike Weber had reported her ex-husband, Egbert Rimkus, aged 34, and their son, Georg, aged 11, as missing. They had travelled with Egbert's girlfriend, Cornelia Meyer, aged 28, and her four-year-old son, Max. This is the story of the Death Valley Germans.
