Book 1 ends on his first day in secondary school, when he finds out for certain that he's not the only one: there's a girl in the frame. Her story develops alongside his in Book 2 and beyond, for, after all, these are The Eight-Team Chronicles.
This story will make you laugh a lot, but I warn you that in places it makes me cry.
