Lady Laura Boxford lives with her beloved pug Parker in the retirement complex of Wellworth Lawns, formerly her family home. She has little to worry about as the central heating always works and there's 24 hour room service.

One night her comfortable world is shattered when Parker goes missing. Together with her companion Canon Frank Holiday and friends Venetia, Strudel and Jervis, Laura sets out on a desperate quest to find him.
