It sits in the Northwestern corner of the state boarding New York. This history begins with chapters devoted to the Province of Pennsylvania, Penn in Pennsylvania, its French Dominion, its English Dominion, Native Indians, early settlements, organization of the county, considerable amounts of data on the Civil War, along with the usual topics of such histories as: buildings, townships, agriculture, newspapers, county officials, navigation via rail, road or water ways, the Bench and Bar, and histories of the various townships. The genealogists will be delighted with the biographical section. The New Index that was created for this reprint mentions approximately 18,000 entries.
