George Brando is a successful businessman. His life is full of satisfactions: a beautiful and always fit wife, madly in love with him, two children in college, and a villa with a swimming pool in the Hollywood Hills. What more could a man want? But George indulges in a fling with a stripper, Gabriela, who works in a photography center frequented by lonely men who are too scared to go to prostitutes. After a brief and intense relationship with the young woman, the same age as his daughter, during which he even rents her an apartment, George is determined to close. But when he shows up at her house, he finds a group of men waiting for him with their faces covered and blackmailing him. The criminals give George two choices: pay a large sum of money or suffer the humiliation of being unmasked with his wife and the press. The three criminals form a poorly assorted team. A trigger-happy black man, an obese man who lives in his deceased mother's apartment and runs the photography studio, and a brazen con man with a degree in economics. He can't involve the police, he can't trust his lawyer, or even anyone who claims to be his friend. Alone, comforted by the love and support of Beth , a beautiful and intelligent woman, George puts into action his own special plan to get rid of the criminals who are trying to ruin his life.

An explosive and entertaining mystery novel. Not the usual cops and robbers story. The killer is known from the beginning but the spectacle of the manhunt outside the classic canons attracts the reader in a vortex of emotions until the last page.
