This book talks about a Chicago kid named ALPACHINO WARD who survived the rough tough miserable streets of Chicago growing up dealing with poverty guns drugs and homelessness. I lost all of his closest friends and family members due to gang violence, sickness, and other traumatic accidents. I overcame shootouts every night, not being able to eat or sleep, and being less fortunate than other kids. The internal struggles I faced, including bouts of depression and suicidal thoughts, amidst the backdrop of external challenges. I share how the pressures of life in Chicago coupled with the absence of a strong support network that led me to confront my inner demons and find the resilience to keep moving forward. I face the frustrations of facing systemic obstacles and biases within the legal system, as well as the unwavering determination to be a present and loving parent despite the challenges of missing out on my first born child Alaysha Ward. I reflect on the lessons learned and the growth experienced throughout my tumultuous journey. I share my aspirations for the future, both as a father and as an aspiring music artist, and express my hope for a brighter tomorrow despite the challenges that lie ahead.
