Katie has lived with her grandmother, Gramby, for as long as she can remember, And for as long as she can remember, they have baked Christmas cookies every time they needed them: to celebrate (birthdays or holidays or just for an A on an important test); or to cheer themselves up ( like when Gramby fell and broke her ankle at the skating rink with Katie, and they even made cookies with chocolate chip chicken pox when they were going around school and Katie came home with chicken pox "bumps".) But Katie has noticed over the past several months that Gramby seems to have become very forgetful, and now, when Gramby is sick in the hospital and Katie goes to visit her, Katie feels as though her grandmother doesn't even recognize her at all. ..until she brings Gramby some Christmas cookies to cheer them up, and her grandmother remembers that she and the little granddaughter she loves so much had always made Christmas cookies together.
