Throughout human history, few leaders managed to create a global hegemony for themselves. Of the few who did, Alexander The Great, Julius Caesar, and Genghis Khan succeeded through brutal conquests in many parts of the world.
Others who built powerful empires such as the Egyptian Empires, the Umayyad and subsequent Caliphates, the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, and Hitler's German empire, were able to create hegemony in their region, but their hegemony were far from being global.
And all these empires and hegemony did not last very long. In fact, some of the most tyrannical and notorious ones were particularly short-lived.
