Electrons dance to the music of mathematics.
True understanding (and enjoyment) of the electronic arts depends
on possessing at least a familiarity with the math behind the
electricity. Everything else is just an imprecise metaphor.
However, the language of mathematics can be challenging.
This book presents all the essential equations of amateur radio in
plain language with clarity and even good humor.
Practical applications are also illustrated. Complicated calculations
include keystroke-by-keystroke instructions that show exactly how
to complete the calculations. (Illustrations are for the easily
available TI-30XS calculator but are adaptable to any scientific
calculator.)
The book begins with a review of the most basic math fundamentals
and then proceeds through Ohm's Law and continues clear through
a layman's look at Maxwell's Equations. There's even a chapter on
how to avoid calculation by using the Smith Chart!
Every formula included on ham exams worldwide is included.
The goal is for the reader to go beyond rote learning to truly
understanding and - dare we say it? - enjoying the mathematics of
amateur radio.
