Set in the 1990s during the Yugoslav Wars, a group of ethnic minorities held in a brutal concentration camp in Bosnia formulates an escape plan. The narrative centers on Amir Kovac, a former schoolteacher turned resistance fighter, and Dalia Mihailovic, a nurse who witnessed her family's destruction. Their escape involves passing through a treacherous, war-torn countryside, filled with minefields and soldiers. They must rely on an unexpected ally: a camp guard, Stefan Markovic, who is torn between his sense of duty and a desire to redeem himself for the horrors he has witnessed.
