169 AD. - Emperor Marcus Aurelius is distressed by the continuous rebellions of barbarian peoples on the
Danube and by the plague that is decimating the imperial population. To both situations there seems to be no

This is his last surviving son, Commodus, whom he proclaimed Caesar three years earlier.
