"Breaking the Four Olds" is a major political movement during the Cultural Revolution to implement Mao Zedong's thought of "fighting the world and sitting in the world (struggle to seize state power and hold state power to rule the state and enjoy)". Its slogan is "Break through the old ideas, culture, customs and habits of all exploiting classes! Promote the new ideas, culture, customs and habits of the proletariat!" The result was a violent destruction of China's excellent traditions and culture, and the establishment of Mao Zedong Thought occupied all areas of China, caused a huge disaster which could not be remedied for the politics, economy, culture and all walks of life of the Chinese nation. This book used the photos, newspapers, posters and other materials of those years, reappear some of the following events during the Cultural Revolution: the movement of the Red Guards to "broken four olds", Churches，temples, cultural relics and even the cultural heritages of Dazhao temple in Tibet and the "Confucius Mansion" in Qufu of Shandong Province have been devastated, the names of places, streets and schools have been changed to different and lose their identifies, what happened to the "black five elements" and the experts and professors in the campaign of "sweeping all the ghosts and cows"; there were "eliminating religion" in some places and personages were criticized and denounced, the bloody fighting of Chinese students in Moscow's Red Square, the May 1967 riots in Hong Kong, Beijing rebels set fire to the British agency, foreign ministry rebels seized power and "bombard Chen Yi" .The people had to sing "father and mother are not as good as Chairman Mao", all over the country hold various "Three loyal to" "Four infinities" "early request for instructions" "late report" " Loyalty dance" "Gymnastics of Chairman Mao's quotations" and so on cult ceremonies. They even advertised abroad that "Chairman Mao is the great savior of the people of the world ".
