In the last decades we have witnessed a strong growth and globalization of service activities in developed economies. The frontier between products and services, as well as between manufacturing and service operations is becoming increasingly blurred. These changes have created a substantially different environment and challenges for managing operations. The aim of the conference was to reflect on the implications of this new environment for the research and practice of managing manufacturing and service operations.
