Lucien Cross has finally gotten his business off the ground. Providing security assessments is one of the things he knows he can handle, but his ability to conduct investigations is still a little shaky. When he's hired to look into a candidate's extracurriculars, he jumps at the chance. This case could put his company on the map. It's a known fact opposition research is highly lucrative, and Lucien would love to dip his toes in the water. There's just one problem, he's not the only private eye working the case.

Ace Darrow is loud and has a tendency to stand out in a crowd. At first, Lucien thinks the competition is a joke, but Ace has a few tricks up his sleeve. And he's not the only one.
