Steve grows up in the village of Karondo with his mother, while his absent father, Mzee Ochieng, lives in Nairobi with other wives. Despite his father's neglect, Steve's mother ensures he gets an education, but she dies in 2010 due to mistreatment by Mzee. Steve is forced to live with his father and stepmothers in a Nairobi slum. While the stepmothers are kind, Mzee is indifferent, focused on his failing nightclub business.

When Mzee moves back to the village, leaving Steve behind with minimal resources, Steve turns the abandoned nightclub into rental stalls and strives to build a better life. However, out of jealousy, Mzee kicks Steve out, forcing him to start over once more. Despite this, Steve becomes successful, marries, and starts a family, breaking the cycle of neglect.

Later, a confrontation with his father leads to Steve realizing that while he cannot change the past, he can choose to live differently, building a loving, responsible life for his own family.

Moral: We can break free from the hardships of our past by choosing a better path and building a future based on love and responsibility.
