When Special Agent Jonathan Howard gets the call that serial sexual sadist Jeffrey Marks has been caught, he immediately travels to Rappaport, North Dakota, to confront the man. Jonathan has been on the Marks case for years with no breaks and a growing list of victims.

Entering the interrogation room, Jonathan is confused. It's not Jeffrey Marks he finds here...it's his recent victim, Dana Cooper.

Jonathan struggles to make sense of this twist in the case. Dana Cooper has murdered Jeffrey Marks in a fashion more brutal than anything Marks did to his victims, to an extreme that seems almost inexplicable. Before he can gather more information, Dana escapes custody and soon begins a preternatural vendetta, blazing a trail of death through several states, putting Jonathan in the last position he ever thought he'd be in.

He has to capture victim, instead of perpetrator, for unspeakable crimes that are more harrowing than anything he's seen before, and there's no predicting where she'll strike next...
