Sixth sense suggests the supernatural, inexplicable, irrational or mystical. Sense of wonder is the hallmark of traditional science fiction about the natural, explicable, rational and scientific. Here are 16 stories at the intersection of science and fantasy. These are fantasy stories with scientific elements (astronomy, meteorology, geology, material science), and science fiction stories with cosmic mystery—or outlandish fun. Here are aliens, ghosts, shamans, and spirits; a dragon, a unicorn, an angel, a vampire, and an alien plant warrior child; doors to another world; and magical machines too.

These stories were first published in various science fiction and fantasy magazines and anthologies. "Wilbur's White Glider" first appeared on the Website for a transcontinental sailplane race called Race to Kitty Hawk in 2003.

"Kindred," originally published in the hardback anthology Bending the Landscape: Horror, won the Spectrum Literary Award for best short fiction in 2002.
