Deslee Campbell's Modern Christian Martyrs is another of her books of biographies of important and memorable Christians. The two portraits on the cover are personally important to her. One of them, Sister May Hayman, was her mother-in-law's friend and work colleague. The other portrait is May's fiance, Rev Vivian Redlich. Both were among the 333 Christians martyred in Papua-New Guinea when Japanese troops landed in PNG and began their abortive attempt to capoture Australia during World War II.
