Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj - an Indian warrior king and a member of the Bhonsle Maratha clan. Shivaji was the founder of the Maratha Empire, which was one of the most significant empires in Indian history.

Shivaji was born to Shahaji Bhonsle, a Maratha general, and Jijabai, who played a significant role in his upbringing. He was named Shivaji after the local deity Shivai, and his birthplace, Shivneri Fort, is located near Pune.

Shivaji's childhood and early years were marked by a combination of exposure to military affairs, a deep sense of pride in his Maratha heritage, and the influence of strong mentors and family members, particularly his mother, Jijabai. These formative experiences would shape him into the formidable warrior and leader he became, setting the stage for his later achievements in establishing the Maratha Empire.
