This work documents the logarithmic pacing of human cultural evolution. Starting circa 8 million years ago with the first hominin, we keep halving units, revealing a series of distinct leaps in symbolic capacity. Specifically, a logarithmic chart reveals that significant events are accelerating and are relatively pulsed. Ten major nodes, with precise dating of events, include the first bipedal humans, the first stone tools, human ornaments, figurines, burial of the dead, and abstract and naturalistic images, many of which are found in deep caves. This work invites us to consider how the growing symbolic capacity and expressions by humans were integral to their evolution.
