Epic Sector 2, the year 2053. In a run-down area of the city, an apartment building is being terrorised by a gang calling themselves The Scum. One resident, a divorcee called Alice Tomkin stands her ground, so they beat her for it. Unfortunately, Alice's best friend is White Spirit, the leader of a supervillain team called Damnation Allies... and they're worse than the gang.

She moves into the apartment and takes the fight to The Scum. White Spirit makes a deal with local law enforcement – she'll tidy up the neighbourhood, they stay out of her way. But with the sadists of an unhinged sociopath terrorising an entire neighbourhood, she soon realises she can't do it alone, so she sends a two-word message and waits for help to arrive.
