A born caretaker, former bronc rider Beth Dawson finds purpose as the animal wrangler for the Grit and Grace Rodeo Roughstock Company she started with friends. The only bur under her saddle is the know-it-all ranch manager who wants to be in control. She's been there, done that. But when a feral dog needs to be brought to heel, she steps in, determined to save the dog and the ranch's livestock.

Ranch manager Justin Chadwick owes the Halliday family everything, and he takes his role at the A Bar H ranch seriously. But having to deal with the beautiful optimist who views every living creature as a potential pet to nurture is almost more than he can bear. Animals are money on the hoof and must be protected so when a feral dog threatens the bred heifers representing the ranch's future, he must put his attraction aside and go toe-to-toe with Beth.
