Darcy Sisto is the leader of her wolf shifter pack. Hers is a successful pack, with mahy members and about one pup a year. Peach Tree Den has a delicately balanced truce with the local deer shifter herd, Tall Pine Herd.

That goes out the window when two of Darcy's teenaged bitches run down the son of the Old Buck of Tall Pine Herd and rape him, which violates the truce. There's only one way to answer this insult, and so Darcy takes that step, even is if costs her two breeding females.

But in living with Toby, teaching him, learning about him, Darcy begins to wonder: Are all the old prejudices valid? Can the clans never meet?
