A heart pounding thriller with non-stop action and a chilling villain.

Tampa Bay Police Detective Jacqueline Withers is trying to enjoy a late evening cocktail on her porch. She's thirty-three, recently divorced, and back living home with her mother. She's determined to spend her Monday evening drinking in quiet misery, sure that her partner, Rick, will cover for her if she shows up to work hungover.

An explosion followed by gunshots interrupts her pity party.

Jacqueline races down the street and finds a neighbor shot to death, a building on fire, and a fleeing car. Tinted windows prevent Jacqueline from seeing the driver and passenger, but inside the car is Rick, and his best friend, Darren.

Jacqueline throws herself into finding the killers while Rick does everything he can to obstruct the investigation, including framing an innocent man. Darren though wants this murder to be the first battle in a long guerilla war against a world he loathes. If Jacqueline wants to solve this case, she'll have to not only discover the truth about her partner but do it before Darren turns the gun on her and her family.

★★★★★ "What kept me reading is the fast pace, the twists and turns of the investigation, and most of all, the vividly-drawn characters and the connections between them."
