I wrote this story with my husband, Leonard, in mind. Several years ago, Leonard drove a blue 1963 Belvedere, Plymouth race car, named Max, winning several racing trophies. Max was a stock car with a high-powered engine. The type of racing Leonard did was racing another car from a standing start for a quarter mile.
There are many forms of car racing, such as NASCAR, where stock cars with high powered engines race around a track with speeds up to 200 mph. Another type of car racing is the Indy 500 with racers driving much lighter cars that are low to the ground and speed up to 240 mph. Let's not forget the Formula 1 race, where the cars are slightly heavier than the Indy cars and low to the ground with speed up to 233 mph.
