The goose that has for years lain for them the golden eggs is about to be slain. - It appears as if a well-known sports media monopoly is prepared to spend in excess of a billion dollars per year for several years TV rights to FBS Division College Football. Why is that kind of money being allocated by a media monopoly willing to gamble on the "them who represent the administrators of a dysfunctional playoff system of national championship determination? In this case the "them are the Presidents and Chancellors of elite universities who, when working in conjunction with The CFP, an ever changing flock of Conference Commissioners, major post season bowl C.E.Os, and influential regional alumni, have found a way to satisfy their greed for wealth and power by avoiding a fair and logical way to administer a college football playoff. Truly, by definition a "cartel" with the common goal in mind of espousing biases that have been ignored by the NCAA for nearly three decades. - It's a "Catch-22" situation, of course, wherein the very organization meant to oversee college athletics is actually under the control of those who they supposedly were to regulate. We might well have a fair system of playoff within the next ten years, though getting there will be like pulling teeth. It remains to be seen if the media gamble will pay off, but why tip-toe away to future years with incremental twelve or fourteen team playoff possibilities when a fair and logical CFCS Project sixteen team solution has been placed at their door-step? - Or, are we looking at an excuse for continued wealth and power of the elite, and will John Q. Public eventually be paying to "stream" their favorite regional football teams. Surely, real intelligence must prevail over the perceived "artificial intelligence" relating to this "gamble", and hopefully we'll be able to continue to watch our favorite teams over various media networks free of excessive cost for yours to come
