Lufas and her trusty advisor Dina have been (re)joined by Aries and Libra, just two of Lufas's fearsome adherents known as the Twelve Heavenly Stars. The next leg of their journey takes them to Gjallarhorn, the land of Lufas's very own heaven-winged race, but she finds her people fiercely divided and on the verge of civil war— King Merak, an old friend who betrayed her, is struggling to keep the peace. It's a race against time to prevent the heaven-winged from destroying themselves, as the gang splits up to hunt for clues that might reveal just who is responsible for sowing this discord. But can Lufas—or the young man in control of her—really afford to trust everyone in her party? Or is one of Lufas's teammates not all that they seem?
