Hard work was instilled in Addie as a child. Regardless of her skin color, she refused to let it define her success. Now that she's finally made it and landed an executive position, Addie is ecstatic to be one of the company's first black woman executives. In her mind, success had no bounds. She enjoys her career until she learns that another black woman has been hired. Addie dislikes the woman right away because she believes her values are different from her own. While the woman tries to form a bond with Addie through comradery and social work, Addie refuses to accept her and will go to great lengths to distance herself from her.
