This text on the history and praxis of Eastern Orthodoxy (volume 1) is intended to help you understand the lengthy process followed by the Orthodox Church since its formative stage in the first century, passing through the important, and for Orthodox churches, crucial, Byzantine period, to its present day position. By tracing the history of the church in this way, I will also try to show that the contemporary Orthodox Church has a historical link with the original and early Christian community.
