Gail Brown loves to do things that are mostly thought of as manly activities. She loves to build and spend as much time outdoors as she possibly can. When she travels with eight of her sisters to a matchmaking dance in Fort Worth, she quickly finds a man she feels is perfect for her.

Max Carlson has recently taken over the responsibility of managing the hotel and restaurant that his parents have owned his entire life. When he attends the matchmaking dance, he's looking for a partner in life, but also in business. He and Gail hit it off quickly, and know they are meant to be together.

It's not until after their wedding that she realizes she will be expected to do menial labor in the hotel and restaurant. Together, the two of them must find a way for her to fit comfortably into his world.
