This chapter discussed the use of prebiotics in pig nutrition. It begins with a section covering dietary fibre and prebiotics, then moves on to describe types of prebiotics, including: oligosaccharides, polysaccharides, and non-carbohydrate prebiotics. Next, mode of actions for prebiotics is explored. Finally, prebiotics in diets for pigs is highlighted, covering again: oligosaccharides and inulin, polysaccharides, and non-carbohydrate prebiotics.
