Traveling with her eight sisters all the way to Texas from Massachusetts, Faith attends a matchmaking dance. There she spots Kane, and she thinks he will be a good candidate for the husband she needs.

Kane spends a couple of days getting to know Faith before deciding to ask her to be his wife. He is pleasantly surprised at how well they got along. But after the first bloom of passion wears off, he sees her with different eyes and wonders if she is simply his wife because he can provide luxuries others can't.

Faith doesn't understand how Kane can believe she is a fortune hunter, and she bristles at his accusations. The two of them are suddenly fighting all the time. Is it possible for the two of them to overcome their doubts and differences?
