Claremont Hawk, an innkeeper on the North Road, once had an unusual visitor. She was known to the priests as the Lady of the Night, a supreme demon from the stars. Of course, the visit of such a powerful guest was not a good thing, as the innkeeper was convinced on his own skin.

However, both he and the demoness suffered, and it was the cunning ancient witch who was to blame. She had led Clermont under the executioner's axe, and he had barely escaped, while the Lady of the Night had lost her demonic power and turned into a human. Of course, they could not let such a heinous atrocity go unpunished and set off in search of the witch.

The unusual companion arouses Clermont's interest - her views are too different from those of other women.

The Lord of the Night has no memory of who she is or where she comes from, but gradually her memory returns and she discovers that her home underworld is called planet Earth.
