Ten years ago, in the small northern B.C. town of Isinbury, Jane Beckett's best friend went missing and was never found. Months later, her father died mysteriously on a solo camping trip in the Rocky Mountains.

Now a 29-year-old witty, disabled and brave homicide detective, Jane returns to her hometown that she's avoided for over a decade to solve a series of murders. But being back home brings up dark memories for Jane and questions she's been too afraid to ask until now. She's forced to defy her feelings of paranoia, low self-esteem and doubt while trying to solve a murder case, come to terms with being newly disabled and finally confront her past mistakes...which might involve murdering her teenage best friend.
