The Malabar Rebellion is an account of the historical and immediate circumstances of the Malabar Rebellion (also known as 'Moplah Rebellion'), the events of the rebellion, followed by an analytical assessment. The study shows that this uprising in 1921 is basically political (anti-British) in motivation. It was the culmination of a series of revolts by the Mappila Muslims in Malabar that occurred frequently throughout the 19th century and the early 20th century. In addition to a deep disaffection with British rule, the rebellion was also a burning sectarian resentment against the land owning Hindu Nair community. The rebellion was suppressed by the British Government.
