Veteran parent, and actual veteran, Richard J. Fitts' debut book is a call to action for parents of today's troubled Black male youth.
While facing a judge in custody court, Richard Fitts had a plan to get him back on the right track. But looking around, he saw children living in anarchy with parents who were ill-equipped to handle them. Who would set them back on the straight and narrow? Suffering from an utter lack of discipline and a lack of understanding, America's Black male youth is at a crossroads. In desperate need of support from their elders, yet heedless of their guidance, they are trapped in a revolving door of doom.
In Salvaging America's Black Youth, Fitts draws from his own personal experiences to educate other parents on the complex set of problems facing Black youth. Rather than pointing the finger at declining morals, Fitts addresses the intergenerational trauma of Black male youth to help give them a fighting chance.
