Will Boyton came upon three strangers who were about to hang a black man. Will took it upon himself to rescue this poor soul from the clutches of these men. The black man was grateful to Will for saving his life. They soon decided to travel on to Denison together and perhaps they both could get hired on at the railroad. They hadn't traveled together long before they developed a friendship and strong bond.
