Drug addiction is a serious problem that affects many young adults. There are various causes and risk factors that can contribute to the development of addiction. It is important to know about these risk factors to prevent potential dangers. Risk factors for developing drug addiction can be both individual and environmental. Some people may be more susceptible to addictions than others due to their genetic makeup. If addictions run in the family, there is a higher risk of becoming an addict yourself. The social environment also plays a crucial role in the development of addiction. People who grow up in an environment where drug use is normalized or even encouraged are at increased risk of becoming addicted. The circle of friends can play a big role in this, as pressure, group dynamics and the influence of like-minded people can stimulate one's own consumption. Another risk factor is emotional stress. People who experience difficult life situations, such as traumatic events, family conflicts, or financial problems, tend to look for coping strategies.
