One of the best things in my life is meeting so many wonderful people through corporate work and on the road. We now have 50,000 employees worldwide, and I regularly pop into the office briefly to meet and talk with them. Not only do they give 150% and really believe in what they are doing - which keeps me going - but they are also fun and enjoy parties, which keeps me young. Oh, at least young at heart!

Besides friends, family and staff, there are a few people I admire. I mentioned the influence of Mr. Freddie Laker, founder of Laker Airways, the first no-frills low-cost airline. He was a wise teacher and very kind to me when I joined the aviation world. There is also Nelson Mandela, anti-apartheid activist[19], who spent 27 years in prison before becoming President of South Africa; Desmond Tutu, the first black South African to serve as Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town and Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in his country; Peter Gabriel, successful British musician (formerly lead singer and flute player for the rock band Genesis) who is now an inspirational producer, advocate of world music and humanitarian causes ; The late Mo Mowlam, who was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when the historic Good Friday Peace Treaty was signed; and Burt Rutan, the American aeronautical genius and aerospace engineer who designed Voyager, the first plane to fly around the world without stopping or refueling, and the semi-orbital spacecraft Space Ship One, the first private spacecraft to fly into space twice in just two weeks. Each of them demonstrated extraordinary courage, talent, and a passion for getting the job done no matter the odds of success, traits that I truly admire.
