The five realms of the universe are being devoured one by one, and the human world is next, unless Naoki and Jessica can stop it.

It has been months since Jessica last saw Naoki charge at the Masked Ghost with the sword of Susanoo. With time moving more slowly in the human world than it does in the angelic realms, she waits patiently for the result of his battle with the phantom. Is he alive? Is he dead? Does he know the identity of the mysterious phantom? But life has been anything but boring since she last saw her celestial love. She has been put on medical leave, buried Naoki's sister, and received an unfavorable medical diagnosis.

While visiting the cemetery, Naoki suddenly appears and is horribly injured. She takes him back home and with the help of her roommate; they give him medical care. Once he revives, she learns the disturbing truth of how he has been betrayed by his own kind. They are no closer to saving the realms from when she left Heaven, and time is against them, along with all the angels.

They are left a clue to one item they need to save the realms by an unlikely source, only to find themselves back in the Meido. Jessica's hidden diagnosis is slowly coming to light, and the yokai are invading the human world. Just when they think their time in the Meido will go more smoothly, the Masked Ghost appears.

All looks lost for certain this time until a band of Death Angels come to the rescue. They tell Naoki the truth of what has been happening behind his back and total war between the angles seems to be certain. However, Naoki still has hope that war can be averted, but it means taking things into his hands and traveling to the realm of Ryūgū, the underwater kingdom.

Their trip under the sea proves to be more upsetting than helpful, but a vital clue to the Masks Ghost's identity is finally uncovered.
